Choosing the Best Camp Location in Fallout 76
You can place your camp almost anywhere on the Appalachian map, but location matters for survival and convenience. Certain areas of the map may be a bit more terrifying than others, you can tell by the high level enemies and giant cryptids chasing after you!
New Map Features: The latest update added region names directly to the map, making it easier than ever to identify safe zones and plan your camp location strategically. The newest addition, the Burning Springs region, offers exciting new building opportunities for experienced players.
Essential Workbenches Every Fallout 76 Camp Needs
When you’ve collected too much junk or you’re running low on ammo, you’ll need to take care of that before joining the next public event. Setting up the right crafting stations transforms your camp from a basic shelter into a fully functional wasteland workshop.
If you have no clue where to start, don’t feel obligated to build them all at once, you can use this as a check list. Here are the must-have workbenches for your Fallout 76 camp:
The stash box allows you to store legendary or crafting items at your camp so you aren’t running around over encumbered. There are many different versions of the stashbox, however they all do the same thing. I recommend keeping one by your benches so it keeps crafting and storing your items simple.
Every camp needs a cooking station to prepare food and maintain your health. Whether you choose a simple campfire or a more elaborate kitchen setup, they all serve the same purpose. Remember to consume cooked food before it spoils—unless you’re playing as a ghoul and need that extra radiation!
The tinker’s workbench is your go-to station for crafting ammunition, grenades, fishing supplies, and camp items. This versatile workbench is perfect for beginners still learning the crafting system.
Upgrade, modify, and craft armor, outfits, and backpack modifications at the armor workbench. This station is essential for improving your defenses as you explore higher-level areas.
Create, modify, and repair weapons at this crucial crafting station. Important tip: Never sell weapons you find while exploring! Scrapping them gives you a chance to learn new weapon modifications, expanding your crafting options.
Craft essential supplies like stimpacks, RadAway, and other chems at the chemistry station. Ghoul players will particularly appreciate this station for managing their feral meter. The chemistry station also includes smelting functionality, allowing you to convert ore into usable scrap materials.
Modify and maintain your power armor at this specialized workbench. Note: You must be wearing your power armor to perform modifications or repairs.
Scrap Management Tip: All workbenches allow you to scrap junk items. Make scrapping a regular habit to ensure you always have materials ready for crafting!
Packing Up and Moving
Don’t hesitate to relocate your camp when inspiration strikes or you’ve outgrown your current location. Camps allow for additional storage and a place where you can keep all your junk, weapons or simply show off your cool plans. Fallout 76 allows multiple camp slots, giving you the freedom to experiment with different builds and locations.

Fallout 76 Burning Springs Update: New Content and The Ghoul
The Burning Springs update brings an entire new region to explore, complete with fresh events, building plans, and exciting content for camp builders. This major update features a special appearance by The Ghoul from the Amazon Prime Fallout series, voiced by the original actor Walton Goggins.
This update arrives at the perfect time as a bridge to the highly anticipated Fallout Season 2, premiering December 17. With new building opportunities in the Burning Springs region and exciting tie-ins to the show, there’s never been a better time to rebuild your camp and explore what Appalachia has to offer. Fallout 76 Camp Tips and Tricks
Dwellers are individuals you come across on the wasteland and invite them to stay at your camp. Some like Beckett and Sofia have custom story lines and dialogue you can trigger and other dwellers will add new quests. I tend to play dress-up with whoever is staying at my camp, here is Beckett dressed as Rip Daring:
Atoms are earned the same way as season tickets, by completing challenges throughout the wasteland and can be used as currency in the Atomic Shop. Atoms can buy you plans to further customize your camp or weapons. they are a perfect way to make the game your own. If that is too much work, you can always buy Atoms with real money.
On the Western side of the map, there is a bridge just west of the Mothman Museum that is used to cross over into Ohio for the first time. Once you’ve discover Highway Town, you can fast travel there to free at any time.
Head to Highway Town and go towards to the Saloon. You’ll the The Ghoul Standing there with some fun dialogue and contracts on the table. Head over here and pick up one of those bounties to start an event!
