My Poshmark Resale Adventure: From Closet Cleanout to Cash!

So, this is my second round selling on Poshmark! Back in college, circa 2016, I made some great impulse purchases that ended up listing and selling fairly quickly through Poshmark. It wasn’t until this year, 2025, that I felt like I made a dent in the resale world! With the ease of the payout and selling and listing process, I knew I had to keep going.

✨ Journey to Posh Ambassador

The first sale of 2025 was a Dr. Martens Nylon Backpack. You could imagine the feeling of seeing that “You’ve made a sale!” notification less than 24 hours after listing went live. That tiny backpack packed a serious kickstart to get back into reselling. My current goal is to get to Posh Ambassador –  I’m currently 85% way complete! With Ambassador, you gain access to more tools that make the selling process easier on a larger scale. Stay tuned for more on that adventure!

🛍️ Closet Favorites That Found New Homes

Here are a few pieces that made their way to new owners:

  • Star Wars Kylo Ren Jacket – Because the Force (and fashion) is strong in Hawaii!
  • Michael Kors Black Top with Lace Sleeves – Shipped off to Michigan, perfect for someone who loves classy meets edgy.
  • Vintage BCBGMaxAzria Silk Dress – Elegance meets life of the party. Now it’s dancing around in New York!
  • Victoria’s Secret x For Love & Lemons Floral Dress – Super dreamy – and brand new! Off it went to another fashionista in Michigan.

Each piece is attached with a personal ‘thank you” note written on the back of a vintage Disney Charades Character Card!

I often try to match up a card that may match or have similar energy to the purchase.  If you’re not a Disney fan and you receive one, no biggie, Pass it along to the super-fan in your life!

📦 From AZ to NY: A Coast-to-Coast Adventure

Over the course of my selling spree, my items traveled far and wide, from California to Massachusetts, Hawaii to Arizona, and even deep into Michigan, New York, and Florida. I loved seeing where each piece ended up. Everything was super easy to ship through a 24 hr service kiosk at my local post office, and no printer needed! I use the QR code provided and the machine will print everything for you, just make to package everything before!

💸 The Sweet Sound of Earnings

Now some people will always Most of my sales landed between $10 and $50, with one of the highest being a pair of Doc Martens Loafers that sold for $69. After fees and shipping discounts, my earnings added up faster than expected. Not bad for some items that haven’t been worn in years or at all!

👚 Tips from the Poshmark Grind

  • Good photos matter – Natural light, clean background, and that one magical angle. Take multiple items at a time or all at once!
  • Be honest in your description – Mentioning any discoloration, tears, frays, etc and include a picture or two so sellers know what they are getting.
  • Offer custom discounts – You can offer custom discounts to people who “heart” your items- use this wisely when an item gets attention.
  • List smart not hard – use Smart List AI and no more getting stumped on a description! Add your photos and just refine your details!

☀️ What’s Next?

Now that I’ve had a taste of reselling success, I look at my closet a little differently! I’m planning another round of closet-clearing and maybe even thrifting a bit with resale in mind. It is a fun and sustainable way to get rid of those clothes in your closet begging to be next up!
